Bessie R. Vietz, age 85, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday, December 2, 2019, a patient of the Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center with her son, Larry, at her side. Bessie was a resident of her home in Hemlock Township for over 53 years. Bessie was born on Saturday, July 21, 1934 in Jonestown, a daughter of the late George and Ivy (Sutliff) Wilson. On December 15, 1951, Bessie married her loving husband, Richard C. Vietz who died November 28, 1988. For many years, Bessie was employed by TRW as a Welder until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, gardening, landscaping and playing bingo, as well as time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Bessie was also preceded by sisters: Lavina Hultz and Mary Ellen Rivera. Survivors include her sons: David L. Vietz of Bloomsburg, Dale R. Vietz of Clarks Summit and Larry E. Vietz of Bloomsburg and two grandchildren: Maria Vietz and Brian Vietz. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 10 am to 11 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Sts., Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will continue at 11 a.m. with Rev. Chris Dunlap officiating. Private graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Jonestown Cemetery.
