Bessie’s Obituary Bessie Elizabeth King Carlton, 100, of Norman Park, died Sunday, December 22, 2019 at her home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 26, 2019 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Creek Church Cemetery. Henry “Ricky” Perry, Jason Mercer, Jody Bozeman, Cole Perry, Jeffery Walker, Jonah Beverly, Monty Carlton, and Wayne Carlton will serve as pallbearers. Born on July 10, 1919, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Joe King and Martha Jane Rowland King. She worked for several years for Shoney’s, Bulls Restaurant, and she sat with the sick or with those in need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stroizer Issac Carlton; grandson, Janthan Beverly; brother, Oscar Johnson, Otis Johnson, O.B. King, and Ottis King. Mrs. Carlton is survived by her son, Johnny Issac Carlton of Norman Park; daughter, Omie Carlton Maddox of Norman Park; grandchildren, Henry “Ricky” Perry of Norman Park and Leann Perry of Omega; six great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren; and sister Susie Cullpepper of Fitzgerald. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
