Burton, age 98, of Granville County, NC, departed this life Saturday, December 28, 2019 in the Whitmore Retirement Center in Oxford, NC. She was a native of Granville County and member of Blue Wing Missionary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Irene Royster Burton; nine siblings: Jim, Octavia Scruggs, Romain Royster, Daisy Ramsey, Hattie Brown, Vinston, John, Lazarus and Cooley; five nieces and nephews: Elaine and Lorraine Ramsey, Coreina Burton, Donnell Ramsey and Vinston Burton, Jr.; and her father’s brother’s two daughters, Louise Woods and Cornelia Morton who grew up with them in the same household and were like sisters. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Thelma J. Burton Chapman, Shirley Ramsey Cartwright and other nieces and nephews from New Jersey, Maryland, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida and Michigan; other relatives, friends and a host of Eagles from Joe Toler School. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced with final details closer to the date of the service scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Blue Wing Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Blue Wing Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
