With heavy hearts we announce the death of our father Art Jones (Arthur Grant Jones) in St. George, Utah. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday Dec. 7th, 2019, due to natural causes. The grave dedication will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Washington City Cemetery on Saturday, January 4, 2020. The memorial services will then be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 591 West 500 North, St. George, Utah. Art was born in Coalinga, California on June 25, 1945 and graduated from Mount Whitney High School, in Visalia California. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Argentina and graduated from Brigham Young University with degrees in English and Spanish. Art was married to Joy Lynn Christensen on August 29, 1970 in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Art worked as a pilot for a variety of companies, including Skywest, Life Flight, Scenic Flights, and for private and corporate clients. He also worked as a civilian contractor in Iraq and as a driver. He had many interests including scuba-diving, backpacking, beekeeping, going to the coast, and talking with people. He was active as a Latter Day Saint and volunteered in the St. George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints until recently. Art is survived by his sons Scott I. Jones, Jeston L. Jones, Kirk K. Jones, and Russell N. Jones; his brother Brigham Jones, sister Jessie Jones; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his spouse Joy Lynn Jones; daughters Lauralee Jessie Jones, Christine Tamsen Jones; brother Hunter Jones; parents Jessie Jones & Lewis Winfield Jones. The family wishes to thank the relief society of the St. George 10th Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and all family and friends who join with the family in remembering Art Jones and mourning his passing.
