She was born Thursday, May 31, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Donald and Charlotte Ruff Rutter. On October 30, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan, she was united in marriage to Frank Carl Schmidt. Together they shared 61 years of marriage. Mr. Schmidt preceded his wife in death on May 15, 2015. Early in her working career, she was employed as an administrative assistance for Remington Rand Temp Service. After marrying and starting her family, she became the quintessential homemaker. As a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Clinton Township, Michigan, she was active in many areas of the church. She sang in the choir, many times as a soloist, was active with the Parent Techers League, active with Sunday School, and served on the guild for Lutheran High School East. On a personal note, she planned family vacations, loved to entertain and cook for her family and guests. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, when the house would be decorated and the delicious smells of cookie baking filled the air. She will be greatly missed by her loving family including her children, Lori (David) Stolzenfeld, and Frank (Julie) Schmidt. She was the proud grandmother of Nathan (Shannon), Matthew and Rachel Stolzenfeld, Kristin (Anthony) Monastero, Jacob (Chelsea) and Joseph (Kristina) Schmidt. Five more branches on the family tree include great grandchildren, Giuliana, Vita, Rosalie, Addilyn and Ellie. Her brother Donald (Elaine) Rutter and two nephews, Rev. David (Susan) Rutter and Paul (Marisa) Rutter also survive. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Harold W.
