James David Downey (DUNE) departed this earthly life on Saturday September 21,2019.
He was born to the late Amos Downey and Annie Sue Throckmorton Downey.
As a youth James was known through-out the community and school for his love of fast pitch baseball. During his early age he moved to New York City where he developed the love and passion for cooking and service to others.
For the majority of his Christian walk he attended the Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Cornerstone Christian Community Church. He was known for his ability to make everyone that came in contact with him, laugh and would give of himself to help others in life.
He leaves to celebrate his life two siblings; Thessie Wade (Rev. James) and Bonnie Bumpass (John), his son; Tracey D. Foster, two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his oldest niece, Minister Patricia Downey who stood by his side until the end. Two aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving friends.
The Eulogist for the Downey service is Bishop J. Phillip Betts.
