James Thomas “Cowboy” Borders, 77, of Anderson, passed away on September 26, 2019. He was born on October 2, 1941 in Anderson, where he resided most of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Tom worked as a fork truck driver for Delco Remy Division of General Motors, and retired in 2004. He also was a school bus driver for South Madison School Corporation for 15 years. He volunteered for Operation Love, was a member of the Jolly Keenagers and Joy Club, and was a Sunday School Teacher at New Life Nazarene Church. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Maryanna (Key) Borders; daughter, Robin Jones (fiance’ Chuck Nelson); and grandchildren, Sasha Jones, and Evan Jones. Also surviving are his sisters, Lila Bennett and Linda Goen, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Eva Mae (Perkins) Borders; step-mother, Alberta Borders; son, James D. Borders; and brothers, James W. Borders, Elmer Borders, and John H. Borders. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN. Services will be Friday, October 4, 2019, 11:30 am at the funeral home with Pastors Al Dayton and Jerry Hilligoss officiating. Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
