William M. Asbell, 83, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his home in Carthage. William was born on March 18, 1936 in Jasper County, MO to T.E. Asbell, Sr. and Frances “Courtney” Asbell. After graduating from Golden City High School, he moved to Carthage in 1955. He worked for several years as a truck driver, then retired in October 1998. William was united in marriage to Leta Mae Fischer on September 29, 1956 in Barton County; she preceded him in death in 2013. William is survived by one son, Jerry Asbell, Sr. of Columbia, MO; two daughters, Sherri Asbell of Carthage and Cleta McNary of Republic, MO; three brothers and one sister; three grandchildren and eight grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three brothers. An open visitation will be held until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Ulmer Funeral Home.
