Mr. Wilbert Summers Shumaker,76, of Statesville, died Thursday at CMC Concord. Born in Iredell County on August 28, 1942, he was a son of the late Virgil Ray Shumaker and Mettie Jordan Shumaker. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was an upholsterer supervisor for Thomasville Furniture. He enjoyed going to the beach, beach music, Route 66 collectibles, the Duke Blue Devils and spending time with his dog, Emmy Lou. Survivors include his wife, Linda Feimster Shumaker, a son, Jason Shumaker (Malena), a daughter, Cindy Minnish (Michael Mott), a brother, Lester Shumaker (Margaret) and grandchildren: Josh Minnish, Jacob Minnish, Tyler Shumaker, Brodie Anderson, Tasha Lindley, Talisha Miller and William Phares. Also surviving are 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Sam Jordan and best friends: Gene and Effie Eldridge and Carol and Dennis Gryder. Services celebrating Wilbert’s life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Jordan and Rev. Keith Bowman officiating.
