Wayne’s Obituary Wayne D. Toussaint, 76, of Yankton, SD passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Sioux Falls VA Medical Center. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2019 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD. Wayne Douglas Toussaint was born November 21, 1942 in Yankton, SD. He grew up in Sioux Falls, SD, he attended Washington High School graduating in 1959. Wayne enlisted in the Air Force in 1959 serving as Military Police, training guard dogs and bomb sniffing dogs in the Philippines during the Vietnam War; and as Honor guard in Washington DC until honorably discharged in 1963. Wayne married Ruth Marie (Dose) Toussaint January 13, 1964, they had three children: Vincent William, born September 4, 1964, LeAnn (Toussaint) Swensen born, January 8, 1966, and Ty Wayne born, August 7, 1972, and divorcing in 1981. He later married Kathleen in 1983 having one child, Dustin on January 10, 1987 and later became widowed on January 11, 1987. Wayne then married Sherry in 1992 having one child, Anna Kathleen in 1994 and divorcing in 1998. Wayne spent many years on the west coast and moved back to South Dakota in 2000. Wayne drove Semi-truck for a living, cross country and finally locally, retiring in 2010. He donated his time driving the disabled American Veterans van, transporting patients to and from appointments. Wayne was never one to quit, he had numerous part-time jobs after retiring. He was a member of the American Legion, avid golfer, and loved gardening and NASCAR. Wayne will be missed by all those who knew him. Grateful for sharing his life are his daughters, LeAnn (Leonard) Swensen of Wakonda, SD and Anna Toussaint of Eugene, OR; sisters, Shirley Williamson of Brandon, SD, Mary (LeRoy) Shipps of Stanton, NE, Florence Geiken of West Bend, WI; brothers, Doug (Jayne) Toussaint of Oklahoma City, OK, DeWayne (Helen) Toussaint of Albuquerque, NM; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of additional relatives and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Martha (Anderson) Toussaint; sons, Vincent, Ty, and Dustin Toussaint; brother, Mike Toussaint; sister, Sharon Toussaint. Read More
