Thomas Edward Townsend, 75, of Hickory passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Carolina Caring. Born March 24, 1944, he was the son of the late Eugene and Gula Townsend. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Sellers Townsend and his brother, Melvin Buster Townsend. Tom was a veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the Hickory VFW and worked with the VFW Post in Granite Falls. He retired from the textiles industry, but continued working for himself doing small engine repair. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Catawba Memorial Park with military honors provided by US Navy and Caldwell County Honor Guard and the Rev.
