Mrs. Sylvia Prince Poe, 82, beloved mother and grandmother was received into the loving arms of God on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Homestead Hills in Winston-Salem. She was born October 25, 1936 in Horry County, South Carolina to Ira Rupert and Dula Cox Prince. Mrs. Poe was a teacher with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system where she retired. She attended Clemmons First Baptist Church and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi “Lee” Clinton Poe. Surviving are two sons, Michael Poe and wife Michele of Mocksville and Chris Poe and wife Sheena of Winston-Salem; two grandsons, Levi Poe of Davie County and Allan Poe of Ohio and a sister, Barbara Austin of Shallotte. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Poplin officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemmons First Baptist Church.
