Her father transferred to Brownwood with TXU when she was a baby, and she has made Brownwood her home ever since. After graduating from Brownwood High School in 1947, Ruth began working at GTE. On May 6, 1951, she married the love of her life, Don F. Magness. She always had a smile and spread joy to everyone. Ruth was raised in the Austin Avenue Presbyterian Church and is a member of the later merged Union Presbyterian Church. She had many talents, hobbies, and interests, but her greatest passion was her family. Ruth was a member of the Schubert Music Club, Brownwood Chapter of the Texas Federation of Music Clubs. She loved music and singing, and was a soloist for her church and Morelock Funeral Home in Brownwood. Ruth was an artist and seamstress, she made and designed porcelain dolls. She was also an excellent cook, she made and sold homemade breads of all kinds. Over the years, she was known as “the doll lady” and “the bread lady”! Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Donna and Buddy Reynolds; sister & brother-in-law, Patricia and Harry Nichol of Nashville, TN; cousins, Margaret T. Coleman, Ann Coleman McCrummen, Jerry & Polly Coleman; and several other cousins. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Don F. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Union Presbyterian Church (700 Fisk Ave., Brownwood, TX) and the Corrine T. Smith Animal Center (3016 Milam Dr., Brownwood, TX).
