Ruth Irene Humphreys, age 76, tragically passed away in a car accident along with her husband, John, Sunday, May 5, 2019. She was born August 27, 1942 in Muskegon to Ralph and Josephine (Rozema) Katt. Ruth graduated in 1960 from Western Michigan Christian High School. She went on to attend the Hackley School of Nursing, graduating in 1963, and attended Ohio State University where she received her CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) license in 1966. Ruth worked as a CRNA for Anesthesia Associates of Muskegon for many years, retiring in 2004. On October 21, 1966, she married her husband of 52 years, John Kenneth Humphreys in Muskegon. Ruth was an active member and volunteer at Fifth Reformed Church. She loved to quilt, bake, travel, and explore our country. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. SURVIVORS include 2 children: Janna (Dan) Male of Rockford, MI, David (Beth) Humphreys of Cascade, MI; 4 grandchildren: Rachel and William Male, Christopher and Ashton Humphreys; 2 brothers: Vern (Elaine) Katt of Canton, MI, Don (Lori) Katt of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. SERVICES for Ruth and John will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 13, 2019 at Fifth Reformed Church (2330 Holton Rd.) with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-5 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 and also one hour prior to the service at the church Monday morning. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Fifth Reformed Church or WMCHS (Western Michigan Christian High School).
