Ronnie’s Obituary Catlin, Illinois – Ronnie Johnson, 81, of Catlin, Illinois passed away at 5:31 am on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at his home. Ronnie was born December 19, 1937 in Sullivan, Illinois to Melvin and Flossie McCulley Johnson. He married Charlotte Smith on April 15, 1960 in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Also surviving are: two sons: Ronald Scott (Lee) Johnson of Danville, Illinois and Brett (Lisa Hines) Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; one daughter: Jeana Johnson of Catlin, Illinois; one sister: Carol VanDyke (Tom) Napton of Hot Springs, Arkansas; six grandchildren: Kaitlin (Chris) Alvarez, Eirelyn Johnson, Taylor Grace Garwood, Ainslee Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, and Chase Johnson, and one great-grandson: Lionel “Cisco Kid” Alvarez. Ronnie served in the National Guard for 8 years as a tank commander. He was the owner of Johnson Construction Company for 40 years. He taught building trades at VOTEC. He had been the Catlin Township Zoning Commissioner and served for 20 years on the Catlin Township Cemetery Board, most of that as president. He was a member of the Homebuilder Association, Catlin Church of Christ, and the John Russell and Bill Church coffee club. He enjoyed going to Menards and Lowes and met his friends from UPS regularly for lunch. He loved old Western movies and hanging with his grandkids. Visitation 5 to 7 pm on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Catlin Church of Christ. Private family burial at Oakridge cemetery, Catlin, Illinois. Memorials to the Catlin Historical Society.
