Robert Otis Weaver 88 of Frederic, died Monday, May 20, 2019. Bob was born in Frederic to Alice (Johnson) and Otis Weaver as a twin to Richard (Dick). As a life-long resident of Frederic, he made the most of the surroundings. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was remarkable in many ways, but most especially after a stroke left him without the use of his right arm, he continued to enjoy his talents as a hunter. Bob was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Sally (Cross) of 65 years. Together they had four children, Renee (Dennis) Deman of Frederic, Chris (Mary) Weaver of Interlochen, Tonya (Dennis) York of Plymouth, and Nicole Weaver of Grayling. He was one of the original workers at Bear Archery in Grayling. Bob was a popular fixture in Frederic. He made use of several different ORV carts and would happily take kids on rides, adults were more hesitant as they never quite knew when they’d be returning! Bob enjoyed playing horseshoes, card games and watching the Tigers. He rarely missed an episode of The Price Is Right and Wheel Of Fortune. He had a ready smile and kind heart. Bob had a great sense of humor and his hearty laugh will be deeply missed. Bob was called to serve our country in 1951. He was drafted by the Army to serve in the Korean War where he was wounded, recovered, and returned to the battlefield. He was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal. Although in different areas, he was deployed along with his brothers Pete and Dick. His brother Raymond had served in World War II. Proceeded in death by his parents Alice and Otis Weaver, sisters Delta Garver, Elsie Miljure, and Ruby Alma and his brothers Raymond, Donald (Pete) and twin, Richard. He has one surviving sister, Alma Mitchell of Frederic. Bob will be sorely missed by his grandchildren: Nettie Deman of Blowing Rock, North Carolina;Robert (Brandi) Deman of Stanley, North Dakota; Natalie (John) Coleman of Oakwood, Illinois; Emily Weaver of Anchorage, Alaska;Chrissa (Sean) Kelly of Grawn; Jessica Frost of Prestonburg, Kentucky;Spencer, Kendall and Jillian Tomczak of Grayling;Bobby (Crista) Hebel of Interlochen; Mara (Jason) Brigham of Grayling;Desiree (Frank) Checks of Gaylord; Braden (Megan) Hebel of Nashville Tennessee;Benjamin (Brenna) Hebel of Honor;Bowen (Allison) Hebel of Frankfort;and Jacinda (Ben) Franke of Interlochen; Numerous great and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He had a loving rapport with a small team of caregivers who helped fill his days with joy. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Frederic’s EMS for their help over the years as well as the staff at Munson Grayling and Traverse City for their compassionate care. Their kindness didn’t go unnoticed.Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.. Funeral Service, Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling.
