Robert “Bob”‘s Obituary Robert “Bob” Paul Connelly, 75, passed Wednesday, May 1, 2019 with his son at his side. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son to the late Richard J. Connelly and Vivian (Woodcox) Elmer. Bob proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a lineman from AEP after many years of service. Bob was a great dad, grandpa and a friend to all; he didn’t know a stranger. He was always keeping busy outdoors; in the garden, or building something, he was a good handyman. Bob is survived by wife of over 30 years, Rita (Gantz) Connelly of Fort Wayne; son, Chris (Gina) Connelly of Fort Wayne; step children, Steven Geels of Fort Wayne, Fred (Tina) Geels of Monroeville and Yvonne (Darryl) Geels of Craigville; brothers, James (Pat) Connelly and Dennis Connelly both of Fort Wayne; half brother, Jeff Elmer of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Katelyn, Jackson, Emma and Freddie. Memorial gathering of friends and family is prior to the service from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Covington Funeral Home. Celebration of Bob’s life is 6 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road. Officiating will be Pastor Shawn Davis.
