Richard Louis Whitehead, 77, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 10:24 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. Graveside services for Mr. Whitehead will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Litchfield, IL. Rev. Ralph Ward, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Military Rites and Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Litchfield. Mr. Whitehead was born on May 30, 1941 in Hillsboro, IL to the late Harold R. and Ada I. (Hill) Whitehead. He was a 1959 Graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL, and attended SIU Carbondale for three years. Mr. Whitehead was a quality control inspector at Illinois Tool Works, Elgin, IL. He married Cynthia Schoen in August of 1978 in Hillsboro, IL. Mrs. Whitehead preceded him. Mr. Whitehead was in the United States Navy from 1959-1962. He loved to attend high school sporting events, and city council meetings in Hillsboro, IL. Mr. Whitehead is survived by three children, Joanna Gallegos, Elgin, IL, Bill Gildow, CA, and Kelly Piccola, N.J., four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Along with his parents and wife, Mr. Whitehead was preceded by one sister. Memorials may be made out to Donor’s Choice.
