Prue Neal Willis Thornburg, age 85 of Marsh Trail Lane passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Atrium Health in Lincolnton. She was born May 8, 1933 in Lincoln County, the youngest child of Dorse and Julia Cook Neal. She was a member of Gainsville Baptist Church and attended Community Grove Church where her grandson pastors. She was always very active in church and faithful in her service to the Lord. She enjoyed the computer, playing games and loved Bingo. She also enjoyed singing and dancing and spending time with her family. Prue loved flowers and loved to sit outside and watch the birds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Klutz Willis and Joe “Pete” Thornburg; children, Timothy “Spider” Willis and Tina Willis; and siblings, Charlie Neal, Ruth Williams, Junie Lester Neal, Warren Neal, J.B. Neal, Warlick Neal, Pauline Heavner, and Carl Neal. Survivors include her son, Tony Willis and wife, Renee; sister, Mary Sain; grandchildren, Trina Willis Begue and husband, Jerami, Rev. Daniel Woody and wife, Kim, and Emily Willis; great grandchildren, Skylar, Trinaty, and Gavin Finley, Chelsey, Faith, and Daniel Woody, and Zachary Daigler; great great grandson, Hunter Reep; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 2:30 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Daniel Woody officiating. Burial will follow at Gainsville Baptist Church.
