Phyllis’ Obituary Phyllis M. Voelz died on May 23, 2019 at the age of 91 years at Four Seasons Healthcare Center. She was born in Columbus, Indiana on August 23, 1927 and was the daughter of John K. Banker and Mildred M. Banker. She married Joseph K. Voelz on October 29, 1949, and they enjoyed more than 68 years together until Joes’ death on March 25, 2017. Phyllis graduated from Columbus High School in 1945. During high school she was a drum majorette in the high school band. Phyllis graduated from DePauw University, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Phyllis enjoyed being a stay at home mother raising her 3 children and caring for all the household responsibilities. After Joe’s retirement from Voelz Motors, Inc., Phyllis and Joe enjoyed selling antiques in their booths in Columbus, Madison, Seymour, and Brown County. Phyllis loved Grandview Lake and enjoyed the Garden Club, the Yacht Club, her countless pontoon rides with Joe around the lake, and her many friends there. She and Joe cherished being at their home in Fort Myers during the fall and winter for many years. She had a great sense of humor and told very funny jokes. Phyllis received wonderful care and friendships at Four Seasons. Phyllis is survived by her son, James K. Voelz (Peggy) of Columbus, her daughter, Judith M. Voelz of Fort Myers, Florida, and her brother, Edward K. Banker (Rickie) and her niece, Judy Castellini (Jerry) of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Voelz (Casey), ¸Laura Garrett (Clint), and Mary Kehl (Travis), and her great grandchildren, Jackson and Harrison Voelz, Lily and Molly Garrett, and Kathryn and Everett Kehl. Her daughter, Ann V. Watson, preceded her in death on July 1, 1989. A private gathering of her family will be held to celebrate her life.
