Nancy Trammell Rosell Monday May 6th 2019

Nancy Trammell Rosell, of Black Mountain, passed away peacefully at the Keever Solace Center on May 6, 2019. She was 92. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Rosell, her parents, Andrew and Evelyn Trammell, her four siblings, Jeanne, Jack, Carel, and Ted, and her son-in-law, Doug Wooten. She is survived by her four children, Elaine, Kurt, Carolyn (Dwight), and Bobbi. In addition, she has 5 grandchildren (Cristi, Lindsey, Allen, Grace, and Hannah) and 3 great-grandchildren (Brianna, Jordan, and Abella). Nancy was born in Pensacola, FL, and was raised in Des Moines, IA. She had a lifelong fighting spirit and saw her way through much adversity, including multiple wars. She was proudly patriotic with a long family history of military service. She and her husband, a Korean War veteran, met while working at the same company in Dayton, OH. Nancy lived in several states over the years, including Iowa, Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina. Much of her life was spent in NC, when her family moved from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to Asheville, and then, a year later, to Black Mountain. Over the years, she traveled all over the US with her husband, compiling a wealth of genealogical information, which was immensely important to her. She attended Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, where she was a member of the women’s swim team. She attended the University of Iowa for two years and spent most of her time working as a secretary in numerous industries, including Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Continental Insurance, and Montreat College, where she was the Secretary to the Dean of Students. She then worked with her husband in his accounting firm, Valley Accounting Service, which is now managed by her youngest daughter, Bobbi. Nancy was a kind and compassionate woman with a gentle yet feisty spirit. She loved her family and always wanted them nearby. Her faith was strong and an integral part of her life. Physically active for most of her life, her favorite pastime was gardening. She had a lifelong love of cats and other animals. She will always be remembered by those who loved her and whose lives she touched, even in the seemingly smallest of ways.
