Minnie Lee Yates November 25 1930 April 28 2019

Minnie’s Obituary Minnie Lee Yates, the daughter of the late George and Mary Lee (Jerry) Lunsford was born November 25th, 1929 in the country backdrop of Sasser, Georgia. As peacefully as she lived, peacefully she departed this life on Sunday, April 28th, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. Known to close friends as Mother Yates, her life was driven by an unwavering faith in the power and peace of God and served to spread the gospel as a devout member of Revival Time Evangelistic Center. Her faith in the promise of God to protect and provide for those who believe supplied the divine instinct of care for her family and home. Her gardens flourished beautifully with plants that seemed to rejoice in full bloom at her presence. She was a multiplier of goodness and applied her creativity to making what some would say wasn’t enough into more than one could ask. Her home was filled with re-engineered goods made from unconventional materials and hand-crafted patents that amazed her visitors and allowed her to make ease of household duties. Minnie would complete the tasks of a day shift crew all by her lonesome all with a spirit of fulfillment and joy to serve her loved ones. In her leisure, Minnie sought to reaffirm her beliefs while reading or listening to the good word of the Holy Bible. She’d leave her Bible on the coffee table open to her favorite scripture, Psalms 91, knowing the message would find its way to subconscious hearts and minds. You could often find her in her favorite rocking chair on the front porch; on point. Truly she was the Queen and gatekeeper of her castle. Her natural affinity to solve was sharpened by numerous puzzles adorning beautiful portraits of God’s green earth. Minnie was known for her firm handshake and golden smile. She was a prayer warrior and encourager who enjoyed helping friends and being an example to family. She was blessed with 9 sisters: Mary Alice (Lunsford) Walton, Maudlene (Lunsford) Longmire, Pearl (Lunsford) Felton, Julia M. (Stephens)Boyd, Mae Julia Stephens, Mary Lee (Stephens) Fitzpatrick, Hattie (Stephens) Oliphant all of St. Petersburg, Florida, Molly B. (Stephens) Ferguson, Mattie (Stephens) Dixon of Trenton New Jersey; 5 brothers: Willie Lumford, John Lunsford, Cornelius Stephens, Joe Stephens of Trenton, New Jersey; Arthur Stephens of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 4 brothers, 3 sisters and her parents preceded her in death. Minnie and Leon Yates were united in holy matrimony and celebrated 70 years of dedication to one another and their family. To this union, 4 angelic daughters and 4 regal sons were born. She leaves to celebrate her home going 4 daughters: Flora L. Harris of Columbus, Georgia; Catherine Robinson of Riverdale, Georgia; Rachel O. Yates of Jonesboro, Georgia; Veronica Maisonet of Atlanta, Georgia; 4 sons, Leon T. (Louise) Yates of Fort Worth, Texas; Carl E. (Anita) Yates of Springfield, Massachusetts; Ronald D. Yates of Clearwater, Florida and Willie C. (Elisa) Yates of Fayetteville, Georgia; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends. With love and peace, we lift her memory, applaud her courage and seek to preserve her mission to be a blessing to so many in her presence. We love you Minnie; We love you Momma; We love you Gram and all the titles thereafter. You are finally at peace with the God you’ve served throughout your life. May the image of your smile live forever in our minds and hearts. Read More
