Mildred’s Obituary Mildred C. Monza, 93, formerly of Scotrun, passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2019, while under hospice care at Cornerstone Living in New Tripoli where she was a resident. She was the widow of Frank Monza. Born on March 25, 1926 in Pittsburgh, she was one of nine children of the late Joseph and Mary (Pintar) Malivuk. Mildred worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years and retired as postal clerk in the Scotrun Post Office. She was very active in the Monroe County community especially in charity work; and her memberships included Monroe Chapter #99 Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #110 Order of Amaranth, Daughters of the Nile in Allentown, Red Hat Society, Church Women United, and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scotrun. Surviving are two sons, Richard Nelson of Upper Black Eddy and Frederick Nelson of Bozeman, MT; a sister, Mary Jardine of Cottonwood, AZ; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Faye Zisk; four brothers, Raymond Malivuk, Peter Malivuk, Milan Malivuk and Joseph Malivuk; and three sisters, Barbara Huzjak, Betty Kolbe and Anne Oliver. As per Mildred’s wishes, cremation was private and a private burial will take place at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Cemetery in Scotrun. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to AWSOM (Animal Welfare Society of Monroe), PO Box 13, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or St. John’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 177, Scotrun, PA 18355.
