Michael Craig Banta, age 68, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away May 3, 2019. He was born in Bellefontaine January 22, 1951, to the late Homer Leroy Banta and Mary Louise (Boss) Banta. Mike was also preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Williams. Mike is survived by his children, Sean (Jennifer) Banta, Sadie Banta, and Alley Banta all of Bellefontaine; a sister, Sandy (Ken) Little of Wapakoneta; Ohio; a brother, John (Chong) Banta of Bellefontaine; nieces and nephews, Scott (Amy) Sheeley, John Michael Sheeley, Andrea (John) Ciradelli, Michelle (Jeff) Smalley, Chris (Brad) Jackson, John (Jennifer) Banta, Billy (Amanda) Banta and good friends Doug Casey and Mike Vance, both of Bellefontaine. A Veteran of the United States Army, Mike served during the Vietnam War and worked as a laborer at DAB for several years. He also helped Doug Casey lay carpet and had worked at Angle’s Nursery. He was a trustee at the VFW. There will be no services at this time. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio at a later date. The arrangements are being handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
