Mary G. Connell, 85, a life-long Beacon resident, passed away on May 13, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was born on October 23, 1933 in Kingston, NY, daughter of the late Rev. Phillip Goertz and Vera Barnum Goertz. On March 21, 1959 in Hughsonville, NY, she married Edmund Connell, who predeceased her on February 12, 2010. Mary was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon; She was a graduate of Beacon High School; a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution, and Order of the Eastern Star of Beacon; and also a member of the Mt. Hope Grange. Mary is survived by her 5 daughters: Carrie Connell, Esther Carrington, Kathryn Galarza, Virginia Connell and Judith Connell. She is also survived by her sister Jacqueline Moroau and sister-in-law Grace Short; and her 7 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. Along with her husband Edmund, Mary was predeceased by a grandson Michael McElrath and her sister Elinor Goertz Elder. The family will receive friends from 9-11am on Friday, May 17th at the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon, 50 Liberty St., Beacon, where a Funeral Service will be held 11AM, followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill.
