Mark’s Obituary Mark S. Powell of Crawfordsville was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Wednesday surrounded by his loved ones. He was 65. Mark worked at R.R. Donnelley for several years and then drove a truck for Millis Freight, retiring in 2012. He also assisted several local farmers with driving farming equipment. He loved sports, especially the ones involving his grandkids. He also enjoyed the outdoors with activities like fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting. Born Feb. 26, 1954 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Harold Powell and Sharon Scott Powell Harvey. He graduated from Southmont, class of 1973. Surviving family includes: mother and step-father, Sharon and Owen Harvey; daughter, Brandy Franklin (Elliott); two sons, Jeremy Powell (Cara) and Chad Powell; six grandchildren, Madison, Natalie, Sophia, Hunter, Elliana, Baine; brother, Terry Powell (Lisa); nephews, nieces; two life-long friends, John Roberts, Randy Francis; companion, Karen Mitchell; his neighbor and friend, Ed Gargon. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 PM Saturday, May 11 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue. Services will begin at 4 PM, led by his nephew, Shane Powell. Burial will follow at Freedom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark Powell’s name to the charity of your choice.
