Mark Eugene Hicks, age 70, of Mendon, passed away at 9:15 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. Born November 13, 1948, in Martin, KY, he was a son of the late Charles Edward & Naomi ( Osborne ) Hicks. He married Brenda K. Snider on September 1, 1967, and she survives, along with their three children: Todd ( Kelli ) Hicks of Delaware, Tonya ( Galen ) Hesse of Mendon, and Travis ( Jennifer ) Hicks of Delaware, and six grandchildren: Rachel ( Spencer ) Heinl, Taylor Hesse, Ryan Hesse, Hannah Hicks, Ethan Hicks and Emma Grace Hicks. Also surviving are four sisters: Wanda Mahaffey of Arkansas, and Pauline Miller, Bonita Welker and June Dorsten, all of Mendon. A 1967 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, he worked at Goodyear in St. Marys until his retirement. He was a member of the Churches of God, served on the Mendon-Union School Board, and had been a volunteer with the Mendon Fire Department. Favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with the grandchildren. Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Rev. Richard Van Horn officiating. Burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Mercer County or to Mt. Tabor Church of God, Celina.
