Loren R. Ellis, 83, Wausau, died Saturday May 11, 2019 at the Hospice House, Wausau. He was born December 2, 1935, in Omro, son of the late Joe and Adeline (Fiegel) Ellis. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served from 1954 until 1957 with service in North Africa. On May 16, 1958, he married Alberta Schmidt in Dubuque, Iowa. She survives. Prior to his retirement, Loren had been employed at Mercury Marine for 38 years. In his free time, Loren enjoyed taking road trips with an occasional trip to the casino. He also enjoyed woodworking and his handiwork was often gifted to his family. Survivors include his wife, Alberta, five children, Brian (Tonda) Ellis, Scott (Bonnie) Ellis, Karla (Tony) Gentz, Lynne (Lisa) Ritchart, Charles (Ronda) Ellis, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a sister, Cheryl (Jim) Wolfe, step sisters, step brother, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn (Lloyd) Sutton and grandson, William Ellis. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Mountain of the Lord Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain. Pastor Andrew Buschkopf will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Full military honors will follow the service and will be conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post No. 10, Wausau. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam, at a later date.
