Lionel R. LeMarier, 88, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on May 27, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Rachel J. (Forest) LeMarier. Lionel was born in Pawtucket and was the son of the late Lucien LeMarier and Aurore (Houle) LeMarier. Lionel attended local area schools and faithfully devoted his life to serving his country for 35 years in the US Army. Lionel, prior to his retirement, was employed as a shop forman for the RI National Guard and in his early years was the owner of LeMarier Oil Service. Lionel was a lifelong member of St. Theresa’s Church, in South Attleboro, was a member of the Attleboro Lions Club and devoted himself to faith and family. Lionel was a highly determined and self reliant gentleman who took great pride in teaching his children to be independent. He was most happy spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling in his motor home. Lionel loved the outdoors and his car of choice was always a Lincoln Town Car. Most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Denise Barishian her husband John, Michele Allard and her husband Michael, Pauline Berghelli and her husband Wayne, Claudette Paine and her husband David and Lisa Hook and her husband Dennis; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday, June 3, 2019, at 9am, from the Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, in St. Theresa’s Church, 18 Baltic St., S. Attleboro, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial with military honors will follow in the Norte Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019, from 2-5pm, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lionel’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN, 38105.
