Joseph’s Obituary Joe passed away Friday afternoon, May 24, 2019 at the Soldier’s Home in Chelsea. He was 68 years of age. Born in Boston, he is the son of the late Leo and Mary (Bulger) Benoit. Joe graduated from Charlestown High School, Class of 1968. After graduating high school he enlisted into the US Navy on November 13, 1968. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Construction Electrician on October 1, 1970. Upon returning home from the Service, Joe attended Fisher Junior College for a couple of years, receiving an Associate’s Degree. An electrician by trade, Joe worked for the Ryan Company when it was located in Hingham but it is now currently in Norton. After dedicating 18 years of service, Joe retired in 2001 with the title of Area Superintendant. Joe previously lived in Braintree but has been a resident of the Chelsea Soldier’s Home for the last two years. Joe is the beloved husband of Ruth (MacPherson) Benoit of Braintree. Devoted father of Joseph D. Benoit and his wife Pam of Raynham, Joshua T. Benoit and his partner Jessica Schwab of Braintree. Dear brother of Leo Benoit and his wife Maureen of Medfield, John Benoit and his wife Mary of Quincy, James Benoit and his wife Maryann of Milton, Jean Dickey of Weymouth and the late Stephen Benoit. Brother-in-law of Debbie Benoit of FL and the late Joseph Dickey. Also lovingly survived by 7 grandchildren, Juliet Benoit of Chicago, Joseph Benoit of Braintree, Dylan, Sophie, Sarah, Hannah, and Joey Benoit, all of Raynham. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services will be conducted at St. Michael the Archangel Chapel at the Chelsea Soldier’s Home, 91 Crest Ave. Chelsea on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. An hour of visitation will precede the Mass in the Cardinal Cushing Pavilion, adjacent to the Chapel, from 10:00 – 10:55 A.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
