MORRISTOWN – Joseph D. “Joe” Talbert, age 77, of Morristown, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. He was born in Shelbyville on May 21, 1941 to Loren and Dorcas (Reed) Talbert. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1959. Joe worked for Detroit Diesel Engine which became Allison Transmission for 30 years until retiring in 1992. He enjoyed pre-civil war primitive camping and participating in rendezvous with members of Blue River Long Rifles, Widowmakers, and Red Hats Society. Joe enjoyed social gatherings where he could spend time with friends and family while enjoying food and drink. Joe is survived by his children, Brad (Benita) Talbert of Greenfield, Shelley Short of Morristown, and Deena Williamson of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, T. Nathan Talbert, Grant Williamson, Kelly Williamson, and Stephanie White; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alexis, and Braxton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Dorcas Talbert; and siblings, Elma Mae (Goss) Six, Bonnie Adams, and Dennis “Buddy” Talbert. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will take place immediately following the visitation at 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place on a later date at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to Boys Town 14100 Crawford Street Boys Town, NE 68010 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 35105-9959.
