Johnny Hal Pearson Sr August 26 1940 May 11 2019 (age 78)

Johnny Hal Pearson Sr. of Red Oak, Texas passed away on May 11, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Celebration of life service will be held on Thursday May 16, 2019 at Driggers and Decker Family Funeral Home at 11:00AM with the interment to follow at 2:00PM at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday night, May 15, 2019 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Driggers and Decker Family Funeral Home. Johnny was born on August 26, 1940 in Jackson, Tennessee. He served his country proudly in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. During his time in the Army, Johnny received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Star. Known as “Chief” or “Mr. Red Oak”, Johnny was instrumental in making Red Oak, Texas what it is today. He was a dedicated member and chairman of the Red Oak Park Board. He helped orchestrate “Christmas at the Park”, Easter and Halloween activities and Founder’s Day. He was an original founding member of Reindeer Manor and started up soccer leagues and other kids’ sports. Red Oak is a family friendly city, because of all the hard work and dedication Johnny put into putting this city on the map. Johnny was resident of Red Oak for over 50 years, and watched it grow from a small town with one stop light to a popular place to move and raise families. The city of Red Oak recognized his love and commitment to this city and dedicated a new park on July 2, 2011 in honor of Johnny. That park is named Pearson Park. Every day you can drive by and see children laughing and playing, Johnny loved that and wouldn’t have had it any other way. In his free time, Johnny enjoyed wood working, golfing, deer hunting, playing poker, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on and his Tuesday lunches with his friends. Johnny had many great life accomplishments, but the one he cherished the most was his family. He simply adored being surrounded by his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Johnny and his wife, Ann, built a loving and inviting home and everyone knew just how much they were loved and cared for in their presence. He will be very missed by all who knew him. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna Marie Pearson; children, Johnny Hal Pearson Jr. and his wife, Jill and Misty Deshawn Pearson Curfman and her husband, Travis; granddaughters, Tiffany Munoz and her husband, Jeremy, Sheridan Woodward and her husband, Scotty, Tori Curfman and Kaylee Curfman; great-grandchildren, Chloe Munoz, Malakai Munoz, Raylan Woodward, and Gentry Woodward; sister, Shirley Wallis and many nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews and other loving members and friends. favorite_border Donations Pledges
