John’s Obituary John Robert Martin, 90, of Cosgrove’s Lane, Westernport, MD, died Monday, May 6, 2019 at his residence while under the care of Western Maryland Hospice. Born on April 13, 1929 in Westernport, MD, he was a son of the late Arthur “Punk” and Grace Viola (Ahern) Martin. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Russell Lewis; a son-in-law, Kirk Davis, Sr. and a brother, William “Bill” Martin and his wife Lola. Mr. Martin was retired with 37 years of service from the Westvaco Luke Mill. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of Victory Post # 155, American Legion, Westernport and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Sylvia Jean (Muir) Martin; five children, Ernest Lee Martin and wife Sharon of Pittsville, MD, Jeanne Kay Davis of Berlin, MD, Carol Sue Lewis and husband Gerald of Westernport, John Kenneth Martin of Westover, MD and Gregory Brian Martin of Pittsville; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. At Mr. Martin’s request, there will be no visitation or services. The Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Keyser, WV, is in charge of the arrangements. Read More
