John Kume Jr October 6 1953 April 30 2019 (age 65)

John M. Kume, Jr., 65, of Kingsville, transitioned to his eternal home to be with Jesus, Monday, April 30, 2019. John was born in Conneaut on October 6, 1953 to John and Helen (Semanco) Kume, Sr. John exemplified what it meant to be a man of God, a man of morals, a man of compassion, a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. To know him, was to love him. He was a Godly man who was obedient to the will of God. He celebrated the Jewish holidays with fasting and praying. He loved blowing his ram’s horn. He was a man of strong faith who had a passion for winning lost souls. He studied the bible and loved to sit under bible teachers such as Norvel Hayes, Cleddie Keith, Bob Jones, Georgian and Winnie Banov to name a few and loved attending River meetings in Coitsville, Ohio. He was a man of honor, courage and strength, respect for himself and others. He had a true appreciation for the outdoors, loved hunting white-tail deer, fishing, boating, golfing, crafts and woodworking. He loved spending time with his Labrador retriever Murphy, chickens, and his favorite rooster whom he named Mr. Bock-Bock. John enjoyed watching the sunrise and would make the most of each day. He loved all music especially gospel singer, Mahalia Jackson. His favorite song was Amazing Grace. It was the simple things around him in life that he never took for granted, commenting and marveling on God’s detailed handiwork. John always said “Life is but a vapor” quoting James 4:14. In his childhood years, John would spend endless hours playing cowboys in Sacramento with his Mom while his Dad was away at professional baseball training. At the age of 11 John and his family went to see Rex Humbard, a television evangelist, where John and his three sisters went up to the altar, receiving Christ as their savior. Before his lengthy illness of heart disease, he attended Gateway Church and also Redemption Fellowship. John worked until becoming ill nine years ago for Zehrco-Giancola Composites as a fabricator and finally driving truck. In his early years, he worked as a butcher for A & P in Pennsylvania, and worked for Bing Austin Construction. Survivors include his wife and best friend Donna (Duff) Kume, whom he happily married on December 21, 1991; his mother Helen of Findlay, OH, (formerly of Andover,) his daughter Trisha (Gary) Patton of Ashtabula; his granddaughters Leandra Cochran and Alexis Patton, great-grandson Matthias Krueger; his sisters Jan (Tom) Steinman of Findlay, OH, Debbie (Jim) Pilarcik of Hudson, OH, and Renae (Andy) Clouse of Findlay, OH; and nine nieces and nephews who knew John had them quietly covered in prayer along with many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father John Kume, Sr.; and his great-granddaughter Neveah Krueger. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 PM Monday, May 6, 2019 at Gateway Church, 2300 Austinburg Rd., Ashtabula, OH, with Pastor Daniel Houck officiating. A time of food and fellowship will immediately follow the Celebration of Life at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to his family. Envelopes will be available at the church. Sign the guestbook at www.marcyfuneralhome.com. Donations may be made to: Family Mail to 208 Liberty St, Conneaut OH 44030
