John Kenneth Humphreys, age 77, tragically passed away in a car accident along with his wife, Ruth, Sunday, May 5, 2019. He was born March 7, 1942 in Muskegon to John W. and Anna (Pruim) Humphreys. John attended Muskegon High School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. There he earned his GED before discharging in 1964. On October 21, 1966, he married the former Ruth Irene Katt in Muskegon and they were married 52 years. John worked for Sealed Power for 20 years prior to purchasing White Lake Ford. He owned and operated the dealership for 6 years until his semi-retirement in 1991. John was an active member and volunteer at Fifth Reformed Church. He was a member of the Mayflower Society. He loved the outdoors, traveling, and was a handyman that could fix or build anything. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. SURVIVORS include 2 children: Janna (Dan) Male of Rockford, MI, David (Beth) Humphreys of Cascade, MI; 4 grandchildren: Rachel and William Male, Christopher and Ashton Humphreys; brother, Jim Humphreys of Muskegon; 2 sisters: Shirley Croel of Muskegon, Joan Humphreys-Bergbower of Fruitport; several nieces and nephews. SERVICES for John and Ruth will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 13, 2019 at Fifth Reformed Church (2330 Holton Rd.) with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-5 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 and also one hour prior to the service at the church Monday morning. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Fifth Reformed Church or WMCHS (Western Michigan Christian High School).
