Jean Ellen Robertson Durham, 101 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 in Fayetteville. She was born March 10, 1918 in Welling, OK to Reverend Albion Lorenzo Robertson and Lena (Seitz) Robertson. Jean suffered through the Great Depression and she and her husband Sam Bert Durham survived the loss of friends in WWII. “Jeanie” as her husband affectionately called her, was an accomplished Pianist and Organist, often playing for church services and friends and teaching piano and tutoring for no charge to many students over many years. She was a very life-affirming person, always encouraging to others with a helping hand or clever wit. She was well-educated and extensively traveled, collecting gifts and memories to share with others back home. Jean was a very loving mother, and much loved by her children and grandchildren. She set the finest example for her family and friends. Throughout her life, she offered unquestioning support, love, and wisdom to those around her. A devout Christian and avid reader, a meaningful Bible verse was: “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. For I have come down from heaven, for this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” John 6: 35, 38, 40. She is survived by one son, David French Durham of Oakland, CA, one daughter, Susan Durham Hendrix (Gary) of Frankfort, KY, two granddaughters, Allison Reed (Rob), Meredith Shamas (Mike), and three great grandchildren, Nathan, Riley, and Madison. A private service will be held at Park Hill Presbyterian Church, Park Hill, Oklahoma. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery, Perkins, OK.
