James’ Obituary Mr. James Nicholas Code of Verona, KY. passed away Wednesday, May 22 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville, KY. at the age of 87. Mr. Code was born January 6, 1932 in Walton, KY. to the late John Code and Hazel McCormick Code. Mr. Code was a retired factory supervisor. He proudly served his country during the Korean War where he served as a medic. He was stationed for a while in Germany where in his off duty hours he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball. Among his other interests in more recent years was playing poker with friends, watching all kinds of sports on TV and he enjoyed his walks around Verona. In addition to his parents, Mr. Code was preceded in death by a brother: Jerome Code. Mr. Code is survived by his wife: Doris Neal Code, 1 son: Dr. Nick Code and his wife Dr. Cindy Code of Louisville, KY., 1 granddaughter: Ava Code of Louisville, KY., 2 stepsons: Rick Burrus and his wife Barb of Florence, KY., Steve Burrus and his wife Trena of Florence, KY., 1 brother: Bill Code and his wife Rhonda of Walton, KY., 2 sisters: JoAnna Tatum of Avondale Estates, GA., and Jackie Martin of Walton, KY. Funeral services for Mr. James Nicholas Code will be conducted 2:30 pm Saturday, June 1 in the chapel of the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Road, Verona, KY. 41092. Visitation will be there on Saturday, June 1 from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY.
