McCarty Sr. and Linda Navarro McCarty. Mr. McCarty graduated from Denton High School in Denton, Texas and attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He graduated from UNT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Psychology. James Sr. and Linda provided James Jr. with a strong foundation, they emphasized the importance of family throughout the years. James’ father, James Sr., was a minister and raised James Jr. under God’s word and anointing, but still gave him just enough reign to make his own decisions in regards to his personal relationship with God. At the young age of seventeen James decided to give his life to Christ and became baptized (his little sister Pam followed suit,) under the late Pastor L.E. Lawson. Throughout James’ primary, secondary, and collegiate careers he soared academically. James graduated Advanced with Honors in the top 10% of his class from Denton High School with a 4.0 GPA. He then graduated from the University of North Texas with a 3.57 GPA. Mr. McCarty made the Dean’s list several years while attending The University of North Texas. He was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, “Who’s Who Among American College Students”, and Vice President of the National Association of Black Accountants. James received countless awards, scholarships, and accolades, all of which were well deserved! Upon graduation James ventured into Corporate America. Not only did James excel academically, he worked just as hard on the basketball court. James thoroughly enjoyed sports of all kinds, but had a love for basketball and football. During college James would play intermural basketball with his friends, join in games at local recreation centers, school his baby brother (Jordan), and display that “Dirty Left” time and time again (he was left handed on the court.) In his down time enjoyed fishing, took that time to relax and reflect on life, family, goals, and his legacy. James also enjoyed playing darts with his friends, and became a member of a dart league. Whether you met James as a classmate, friend, colleague, or avid dart player he made a lasting impact on each life he touched. He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. James E. McCarty Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Linda Navarro McCarty; long time love, Elizabeth Casanova; two children, James “Alex” McCarty and Jacyn A. McCarty; three siblings, Pamela Hicks (Don), Pamela McCarty, Jordan McCarty; two nephews, DeAndre Hicks and Rodney Gladney Jr.; three nieces, Chrystle and Brittney Hicks and Rodnesha Gladney and a host of other family and friends.
