James’ Obituary James Donald Harmon, 74 of New Boston, Tx, passed away on May 7th, 2019 at a local nursing home. Preceded in death by his parents Jepp Lewis and Bertha Cowley Harmon, and his two brothers William and Roger Harmon. James Harmon was further survived by his wife Sandra Harmon, son Dennis and Jennifer Harmon of Tyler, Tx, and daughter Angie Harmon Cain of New Boston, Tx. Five granddaughters, Kaleigh and Cory Dodson, Kandis Harmon, Karlee Harmon, Kate-Lynn Harmon, and Emma Holland. Two grandsons, Zackery Cain and Blade Cain. Three great-grandchildren, Addison Harmon, and Cass and Finn Dodson. One sister, Alice and Leroy Cooper from Dekalb, Tx. Two brothers, George and Jonna Harmon of New Boston, Tx, and Ellis and Sharon Harmon of New Boston, Tx, along with many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. James Donald Harmon, was born in San Antonio, Tx, and soon after moved to New Boston, where he attended New Boston High School, class of 63’. James was in the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam war, leaving behind many 5th/7th cavalry brothers. James retired from Red River Army Depot, and was a member of the Red Bayou Methodist Church. James Harmon enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman, whether it be hunting or fishing, he was happy as long as he had a cigarette in each hand. Towards the end of his life, James loved playing cards, and singing “here comes peter cottontail,” to anyone who would listen. James loved spending time with his family, and anyone who knew James, knew he would make a place in the heart of a stranger. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 10, 2019 in the Red Bayou United Methodist Church, New Boston with Bro. John Barfield officiating. Interment will be in Read Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home, New Boston. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the funeral home. Read More
