James’ Obituary James Dan Corbitt, 88, died Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Dalhart, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church of Dalhart with Rusty Hancock, Pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church officiating. – arrangements – Horizon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15 at Horizon Funeral Home. James Dan Corbitt was born November 29, 1930 in Hollis, Oklahoma to James Arthur and Doris Mae (Black) Corbitt. Mr. Corbitt graduated from Dalhart High School in 1947 and began a career spanning over 43 years with the Rock Island railroad including many name changes Rock Island Railroad to Union Pacific. Dan served as chairman of the brotherhood of locomotive engineers and was a member of the Dalhart Masonic Lodge. He was also a rancher, farmer, entrepreneur and a member of the Ft. Worth Investment Academy. Mr. Corbitt stayed busy with his carpentry and hobbies. Survivors include his wife; Kaye of Dalhart, TX, son; Ricky Corbitt and wife Kristen of Cortez, CO, daughter; Brenda Garth of Dallas, TX, Jeff Hill of Sherman, TX and Roma Hill of Amarillo, TX as well as grandchildren: Mariah Allan and Cristi Garth, brother; Neal Corbitt and wife Glenda of Temple, TX, Nephews and Niece: Allan and wife Susan Corbitt, Clay and wife Linda Corbitt, Jim and wife Michelle Corbitt and Karen Corbitt, also numerous great nieces and nephews.
