A funeral service for Mrs. J. Connelia “Tootsie” Smith, age 96 of Mineola, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Peschke officiating. A private burial will be held at the Cedar Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mineola, Texas. Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Mrs. Smith died Saturday May 4, 2019 at a nursing home in Lindale. She was born in Grand Saline, Texas on February 27, 1923 to the late James Guy and Connie (Pebbles) Warren. Mrs. Smith was a longtime resident of Mineola and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell “Mitch” Smith, 3 sisters, Marie Wilson, Mildred Hall, and Cora Whitehead, daughter, Debra Matthews and son-in-law, Bill Matthews. Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Garry Thompson, and wife, Sarah of Lindale; 3 grandchildren, Julie Benson of Lindale; Melissa Fleming of Gladewater; Warren Matthews of Union Grove; 7 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
