Herbert Floyd Watts finally spread his wings and took flight through the glorious gates of Heaven to rejoice with his wife and family on May 20th, 2019 at the age of 79. Herbert was born to Arthur and Nancy McKinney on July 28th, 1939. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Linda Watts; brothers, Jack Watts, Wade, Edward, James and Glenn McKinney. Those left to cherish in his memories include: sisters, Della Hawkins and Billie Floyd; daughters, Angela and Sherry Watts; son, Herbert (Tony) Watts; grand-daughters; Miya, Hannah and Emily Watts; grandson, Alexander Generette; and great grand-daughter, Kamren Watts. Herbert served in the United States Army for 22 years. During this time, he gallantly served three tours in Vietnam. He was awarded “The Army Commendation Medal”, “The Bronze Star Medal”, “The National Defense Service Medal”, “The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal”, “The Meritorious Unit Commendation”, “The Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm” “The Good Conduct Medal – 4 awards” and “The Vietnam Service Medal”. Herbert was so much more than just an honorable soldier though, he was a true family man. He was kind, caring and compassionate. He was understanding and supportive. Herbert had a sense of humor that would make even the coldest soul laugh. No matter who he met, he treated every one as equal. So many people have been touched by this amazing man, so many people will smile just from the thought of him. Herbert’s memorial service will be June 1st 2019 at 1300 hours in the Fort Bragg, NC Main Post Chapel. Following the memorial will be a celebration of life to allow the family to have a final send off for this wonderful man that will be filled with love, laughter and family fun. A celebration that would truly make him proud. Thank you for all of your support and prayers.
