Helen’s Obituary Helen Waldner, age 70, of Minto, ND passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Helen was born November 1, 1948 in Olivet, SD to John and Suzanna Wipf. She was joined in marriage to Harry Waldner on October 29, 1969. Helen and Harry had four children and twelve grandchildren. They moved to Minto, ND in 1997. She worked at the Life Skills and Transitional Center in Grafton, ND for 20 years and retired in 2016. She loved her family very much and spent most of her free time with them, from sharing meals, going to her grandchildren’s events, or just a quick trip to Grand Forks with the girls. Her favorite way to show love was by preparing meals for her family or anyone else that showed up on her doorstep. She was never known as just Helen, only “Grandma Helen” or “Momma Helen”. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and was one of the loudest in the crowd. Anyone that ever met Helen knew that there was something special about her that you instantly loved. She loved everyone in the most nonjudgmental and unconditional way. She is survived by her husband, Harry Waldner, Minto, ND; son, Johnny (Anita) Waldner, Emery, SD; daughters: Karen (Mark) Maendel, Pisek, ND, Nolene Waldner, Minto, ND, and Sandra (Ryan) Almen, Vesleyville, ND; Grandchildren: Talitha, Ashley, Alex, and Michael Waldner, Faith and Kaylee Maendel, Remy Waldner, Wyatt Kringstad, Jayden Peterson, Caleb Riskey and Noah and Lincoln Almen; Siblings: Susie (Pete) Waldner, Johnny (Liz) Wipf, Walter (Dorothy) Wipf, and Esther Hofer. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Suzanna Wipf, siblings: Henry Wipf, Herman Wipf, Becky Waldner, Christine Wipf, and Dora Wipf. And so love we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:16.
