Hazel M. Hackworth, age 85, of Danville, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Riverside Heath and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Hackworth was born on December 12, 1933, in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Posie Mills and Cora Scearce Mills. She married the Rev. Robert Hackworth who preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Danville where she was a homemaker. Mrs. Hackworth is survived by her children, Kathy Page and Robert Hackworth Jr. (Cindy); five grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Louise Oakes. In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Hackworth is preceded in death by brothers, Bobby and Burnet Mills; and sisters, Mary Green and Frances Simmons. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Von Emie officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and at other times the family will be at her son’s residence, 175 Searcy St. Danville, VA. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
