McAllen – Gerardo Fernando Alvarado, 58, entered eternal rest on Monday May 20, 2019 at Doctors Hospital At Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born on Sunday, February 19, 1961 in Edinburg, the son of Anastacio Alvarado and Maria de Jesus Galvan. He is preceded in death by his brother: Jose Luis Alvarado. Jerry honorably served his country with the United States Navy from 1981 to 1985. Jerry was a 1990 graduate of McHigh Bulldogs Jerry was a charter bus driver for more than 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his children. He also loved to travel. Jerry truly lived life to its fullest. Survivors Include his wife: Hermelinda Alvarado; four children: Julissa Estella Alvarado, Gerardo Fernando Alvarado, II, Jesus Anastacio Alvarado and Pablo Nicodemo Alvarado; his mother: Maria de Jesus Galvan; two sisters: Sylvia Alvarado and Lucina Alvarado. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, May 23, 2019 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Chapel Service will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Interment with full military honors will follow at 10:00 AM at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. www.riverafuneralhomes.net .
