Obituary George “Wayne” Motes, age 74, of Dalton passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Hamilton Medical Center. Mr. Motes worked at North Georgia E.M.C for 47 years. He was a hard worker, and he loved gardening, helping his friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Early and Pauline Motes; brother, Joe Motes; niece, Pam Roane; nephew, Jason Motes; and a grandchild, Ava Motes. Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce O’Briant Motes of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Jonathan Weaver of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Julie Motes of Calhoun; step-children, Jerry O’Briant of Dalton, Gary and Angie O’Briant of Calhoun, and Karen Sneed of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Robert McGee of Hartwell, GA.; brother and sisters-in-law, Denver and Carol Motes, and Lucy Motes, all of Hartwell; grandchildren, Luke and Makenna Motes, Jase and Sadie Weaver; nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Motes will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
