George Evans Hughes, 81, of Willis, Texas passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019. He was born on Wednesday, July 21, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to Charles Elmer Hughes and MaeBelle (Knighton) Hughes, both of whom have preceded him in death. George was also preceded in death by his sons, Steven Hughes, John Hughes; sisters, Estha Jamar, Lillie Constable, and Juanita Thomas. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Bonnie Jean Hughes; daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Crawford; daughter-in-law, Shirley Hughes; brother, Richard “Dick”Jenke; along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. George was retired from the army after 21 years of service, where he was a tank commander. George served in the Korea and Vietnam Wars. Visitation for George will be held at Neal Funeral Home Sunday June 2, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services for George will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Monday June 3, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Interment for George will follow at Houston National Cemetery, at 1:15 pm. Pastor David Quail officiating. All services were handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
