Gene’s Obituary Gene Chapman, age 79, passed away on May 18, 2019. No services are scheduled at this time. Gene was born on October 17, 1939 in Paducah to Robert Clarence and Jesse (Allen) Chapman. He married Sara Kennedy on March 10, 1981 in Hedley, Texas, and they shared 38 loving years together. A hard worker, Gene held various occupations and jobs throughout the years, including operating a furniture store, a restaurant, was a contract postal worker, and sacked groceries at United Supermarket. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Matador. He was a people person and loved to be around people, and loved to joke and tease. He also loved to travel, especially to the mountains. Gene was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife, Sara Chapman; three sons, Terry Chapman and wife, Debbie, Gary Chapman and wife, Marci, and Craig Kennedy; two daughters, Selena Simpson and husband, Doug, and Misty James and husband, Michael; sister, Lorene Moyers; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several extended family and friends. The family requests no floral arrangements, but asks that memorial contributions be made to CRMC Hospice, PO Box 1030, Childress, TX 79201. Read More
