Fritz Moertl 2019

Fritz Moertl 2019

Fritz Moertl was a loving, generous husband to Judi, his wife of 31 years. Together, they had three amazing children and were blessed to add a fourth through marriage in 2015: Breezy Mellijor (neé Moertl), Marcelo Mellijor, Kaileigh Moertl, and Jake Moertl. Fritz left this earth peacefully in his family’s arms Sunday, May 19, 2019. We are confident that he has seen Jesus face to face and are comforted by the knowledge that he is in Christ. Fritz was first of all a man of God and grew like a giant in his faith over the last decade. He loved his wife fiercely, with humility and kindness and trust. He lovingly called her his “living angel” – every word he spoke of her was filled with deep and unending love. Fritz let Judi shine by being her protector, provider and rock. Their marriage is a testament to Christ and the work he did in and through them. His kids were the light of his life. He unconditionally supported and provided opportunities for all of their interests and passions. He was their biggest fan and taught them by example how to live faithful, integrity-filled lives. Fritz never let a day go by without encouraging his kids and walking with them through the good and the bad, and he loved telling people how proud he was of them. There was nothing Fritz wouldn’t do for all four of his children. Fritz was passionate and driven, not only in his personal life, but also professionally. He owned and co-owned several businesses and was successful in all that he touched. He deeply respected and admired his business partner, colleagues, team, and mentors. Fritz’s work took him all over the world, from India to Germany to Brazil and more. Everyone who met Fritz remembers him fondly for his easy laughter, his love of sports, and his generous heart. Fritz brought joy to all who crossed his path. We will miss him dearly until we see him again. Fritz loved and cared affectionately for his six siblings: Chris (Maggie) Moertl, Marggie and her husband Bob Hatala, Mary and her husband Joe Mendla, Ann and her husband Gary Jacobs, David and his wife Lynn Moertl and Jane and her husband Kirk Anderson; and he adored his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack D. Moertl and Sarah “Sally” F. Moertl (neé Butler). We will celebrate Fritz with a Memorial Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Saturday, June 1st at 1:00 pm, 200 North Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL, 60067. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Fritz’s GoFundMe Campaign. Your support will allow Judi and her family to grieve Fritz’s death without the financial burden of his medical care over the past 6 weeks. www.gofundme.com/help-fritz-moertl-fight-brain-cancer
