A Funeral Mass for Frank Eschenburg of Athens, Texas, has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Nolan Lowry officiating. Frank Joseph Eschenburg was born January 5, 1949 in Victoria, Texas to the late Louis and Julia Jurena Eschenburg. He served in the United States Air Force from 1968-1971. He worked in the oil field in Victoria for 21 years before retiring in 2003 and moving to Athens. His home in the country was his “little piece of Heaven” where he enjoyed taking care of his animals. His nickname around the place was ‘Mr. Fix It.’ He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus at St. Edwards and enjoyed working with the Labor of Love organization in Athens. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Judy; a son, Frank Eschenburg, Jr.; a daughter, Brandy Eschenburg of Houston; step-son, Leighton Crick and wife Gina of Traverse City, Michigan; step-daughter, Rebecca Hempkins and husband Brad of Allen; step-grandsons, Samuel and William Crick and Sullivan Hempkins; and step-granddaughter, Sloane Hempkins. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 5-7:00 p.m., with Catholic Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701, or, St. Edwards Catholic Church, 800 E. Tyler, Athens, Texas 75751.
